Membership - A new healthcare model

Why Membership

Health can’t be achieved in a single visit to a doctor’s office. Health is something you do for yourself over time and occurs naturally when you have the support and resources that are right for you. Health is dynamic – what you need to achieve and maintain health varies from month-to-month, year-to-year, and throughout the seasons of your life.

Too often, modern health care often fails to address this. That’s why we’re doing something different.

We offer relationship-centered, membership-based health care that honors your commitment to health over time. As a member of Winthrop Natural Medicine, you make a regular, monthly payment that ensures you have the care you need, when you need it.

Each membership tier includes an approximate number of monthly visits and treatments like acupuncture. This helps you regularly check in on how you’re doing over time, with someone who knows you and who you know and trust.

But the real beauty of the membership rests in its flexibility, and how it helps you face the unexpected. Many people need more intensive care and treatments at specific stages of their life or health journey, but cannot afford the level of care required to create lasting change. Others at a healthier state want an ongoing relationship with someone they trust to help maintain their health or to concentrate on improving a specific issue. And all of us are subject to unexpected illness, loss, or other storms of life that can impact our vitality, and cause us to seek support. As a member, when illness or injury arise, you face a flare-up in symptoms, or have a life crisis, you don’t pay more to get more help. The membership is here to help you weather the storms of life. When you need more support, simply come in for a visit or treatment – at no extra fee.

By supporting our non-profit clinic as a member, we support you when you need help most.

Membership FAQs

Each membership includes the benefits described in the membership tiers. All memberships also include communication outside of appointments as needed and no additional fees for increased care due to sudden and unexpected conditions or acute illness. Members are also the first invited to any Winthrop Natural Medicine events.

No, all memberships are month to month and can be cancelled with 1 week’s notice.

Health is a spectrum between illness and full vitality. Everyone is at their own, unique place on that spectrum. And we each have different levels of time, resources, and energy to invest in our health at any given time in our life.

The membership tiers are designed to accommodate these differences. We will speak with you at your initial consultation to decide which membership is right for you. If you’re not sure, The Standard Membership is typically what works best.

Becoming a member requires a one-time Consultation Fee. This fee covers the cost of the comprehensive intake for each new member. This comprehensive intake is between 90-120 minutes for adults and children over 13, and 60-90 minutes for children under 13, and usually includes an initial treatment. The Consultation Fee is $250 for adults and children over 13 and $125 for children under 13.

Memberships begin the day you sign up as a member, and you will be billed monthly moving forward on that same day of the month.

You can schedule an appointment for a consultation or treatment anytime. Simply make an appointment online.

When you meet with your provider, have a conversation before you leave about their recommendation for when to see you next.

The membership is designed to be flexible, so that you have the care you need – when you need it.

Most months, you will have a routine level of care based on your membership tier.

Some months, you will need more care. The membership is designed to give you this additional care when you need it, without charging you more just because you got sick.

Other months, you may not need any care at all. Months like these allow our clinic to offset the times when you needed more but didn’t charge more.

If you are consistently needing more services and care than your membership tier outlines, your provider may speak with you about bumping up to the next membership tier.

If you are consistently needing fewer services and care than your membership tier outlines, you can request to drop down a membership tier.

Simply notify us in person or by phone or email.

If you need to stop your membership, whether due to extended travel, temporary financial difficulty, or any other reason, you are welcome to pause your membership payments for up to two months, for a maximum of two months per year. Your membership will automatically restart on the date you set for your return. This may change the day of the month on which you are billed for your membership.

If you were previously a member and have been inactive for more than 2 full months we require you to pay the one-time Consultation Fee again. This covers the longer consultation that is necessary when we haven’t seen you for some time.

Due to the nature of the membership we do not offer refunds for membership fees. Please make sure to let us know 1 week before your membership payment is due if you need to pause or cancel your membership.

We never turn anyone away solely for financial reasons. If you are in need of care and are experiencing financial hardship please reach out. We will find a solution that works for everyone.
