Dr. Kye Peven is a Vitalist who holds dual doctorates in Oriental Medicine and Naturopathic Medicine from National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He’s licensed as a Naturopathic Doctor as well as an Acupuncturist in the State of Washington, and licensed as an Acupuncture Physician in Florida.
Holding dual doctorates in both Western and Eastern medicine, Dr. Kye is fluent in perspectives from both worlds. Dr. Kye often diagnoses and treats from a Chinese medicine point of view, but translates that information using the language of western biomedicine, which makes his counsel highly accessible to patients. He holds the best of both worlds and can move fluidly back and forth between them.
He manages and practices at his clinics in Seattle, Washington, and at Winthrop in Riverview, Florida. He believes in the body’s innate capacity for self-healing and works masterfully with Chinese herbs, acupuncture, homeopathy, light therapy, as well teaching foundational health practices such as diet, nutrition, and lifestyle changes, to help patients remove barriers standing in the way of their vitality. He believes in the model of doctor-as-teacher and enjoys counseling patients to help them find empowerment and self-mastery through identifying and resolving the emotional underpinnings of illness.
Dr. Kye earned an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley in Materials Science & Engineering, with a minor in Nuclear Engineering, believing in his youth that improving technology was the key to improving human life. Yet after spending 10,000 hours in Vipassana silent meditation after college, he changed his perspective and decided that the best way to help people is to help them feel better and to heal. That’s when he began his journey as a doctor.
Dr. Kye was raised holistically by parents who were oriented toward traditional and natural medicine, so he knows first-hand what life can look like for children when they are raised with natural medicine and without all of the conventional interventions which have become commonplace. He is dedicated to helping both adults and children achieve a level of health and vitality where routine medical intervention is no longer necessary.
He is a devoted student of the Yi Jing, Gene Keys, and Western astrology. He spent many years training as a classical pianist. He speaks English and Mandarin. He loves to cook and has been told he should become a chef. Dr. Kye lives with his fiancé in Winthrop outside of Tampa, Florida, unless he’s in Seattle seeing patients.
